What should they bring?
We will provide all the specialist equipment including all personal safety equipment. We recommend appropriately gripped trainers or walking boots and a pair of wellies (even in Summer as the long meadow grass is long), light sportswear, trousers/shorts, a waterproof/windproof jacket, additional top layers and of course, spares of everything! A full detailed kit list will be send upon booking.

Shortenills is an environmental centre providing a range of habitats carefully managed to support a rich variety of plants and animals. We ask our visitors to help us sustain this special environment and to ‘Take only photographs’ and ‘Leave only footprints’. Raising awareness of sustainable living and connecting people with nature is central to all our learning experiences. We believe we do this in an enjoyable and engaging way and hope our visitors will embrace our eco ethos.

We encourage independence and resilience in our young visitors and therefore ask you to leave them in the capable hands of our friendly instructors. If you feel you would prefer stay for the start of the experience to ensure they are settled you are of course welcome to do so.

From signing in to signing out and collection we take the responsibility of the care and supervision of our young visitors very seriously. Our dedicated experience staff will ensure the young visitor needs are meet and their experience is enjoyable and they are put at ease.
